Bequest Language

Bequests are the most popular form of planned gifts. If you are considering a gift to Iliff in your estate, we encourage you to discuss your wishes with your family and consult your advisors in planning these gifts. To make a bequest in your last will and testament, below are some suggested phrases, although you should ensure that the language is consistent with that used in the balance of the will.

To make a specific bequest
“I give, devise, and bequeath $X or X Asset to The Iliff School of Theology, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located at 2201 South University, Denver, Colorado 80210, for (a specific use) (general use and purposes) (to create an endowed fund).

To make a percentage bequest
I give, devise, and bequeath X% of my estate but in no event to (exceed $_______) (less than $_______) to The Iliff School of Theology, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located at 2201 South University, Denver, Colorado, 80210, for (a specific use) (general use and purposes) (to create an endowed fund).

To make a residuary bequest
I give, devise, and bequeath X% or the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate consisting of property, both real and personal, wherever situated, which I may own or be entitled to at my death to The Iliff School of Theology, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located at 2201 South University, Denver, Colorado, 80210, for (a specific use) (general use and purposes) (to create an endowed fund).

To make a contingent bequest
“I give, devise, and bequeath to Named Person, $X, X%, or the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate. Should Named Person predecease me, I direct this sum or percentage to The Iliff School of Theology, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located at 2201 South University, Denver, Colorado, 80210, for (a specific use) (general use and purposes) (to create an endowed fund).
